By Tyreek Deonte

You can call them comfort or medical shoes, these are just a few things of how to call orthopedic shoes. They are designed with pedorthic or anatomically-correct quantities like padded removable footbed, wide toe boxes and arch support. They're purposely manufactured for people with feet ailments or those people whose occupation involves standing for a long time. Orthopedic shoes are produced to eliminate tension in certain activities like long walks. They have been thoroughly studied to perform in such a way that the wearer will be able to withstand longer walking time due to the comfort it provides. These shoes are more pricy due to its support and materials; but with it you are assured superior comfort and durability. They can last a long time depending on usage and maintenance.

Highly molded toe box with a protective design is an important thing about orthopedic shoes. Protection for your toes is a high priority for the makers. Strong and stiff components are built from the heel to the collar for superior comfort during your walking activity. Water resistant is another good quality you get from orthopedic shoes, this means your feet will remain guarded against unwanted liquid. The only liquid your feet will ever obtain is natural sweat; but of course this has been thought of by different manufacturers and has installed reliable airways to keep your feet fresh. The tongue is one of the parts responsible for keeping your feet dry because for orthopedics shoes, tongues are extended and made with extra padding so you're protected from pressure as well.

Although orthopedic shoes are known or built to remove feet pain or stress, no shoes can actually take away all the pain. However, these kinds are the best shoes that lessen discomfort. There are different variants for orthopedic shoes. Some are made of leather that has an amazing cushion perfect for absorbing normal shock on the base of the shoes to keep you comfortable through out the day. There are also those designed for people with narrow feet.

If you're low on budget, there are still those that are cheap enough but still provide unbeatable comfort, are still reliable and comfortable. Some orthopedic shoes are even designed to support the legs and not just on feet and ankles. Traditional orthopedic shoes were made for the older folks, but nowadays you can see people of different age using them.

Many types of orthopedic shoes are made for different kinds of foot or leg problems, some of these ailments are bunions, hammertoe and fallen arches. There is no such thing as one pair orthopedic shoes that can eliminate all kinds of foot discomforts even if they are the most costly among all orthopedic shoes; but many of these shoes are designed for different types of foot problems.

By Randall Greene

It cannot be denied that once you mentioned the City of Hoquiam, it will give you the idea about the fine woods that grew abundantly thus Hoquiam had been branded as the land of fine woods since time immemorial. These rich natural resources then became the major way of living in the community itself.

Real estate development took place anywhere which added to the profit specifically the Polsons. Indirectly, the town grew up to its own when men came pouring to the place to work in the logging camps thus the little town became a city. Hoquiam WA had developed its own name so the story goes through hard labor and perseverance of the proud people of Hoquiam WA.

The abundant forest of Hoquiam became the main source of livelihood for the people. This became their noble profession by giving quality services when it comes to woodworks. Many businessmen poured into this simple little town and established large number of saw mills and lumber concessions. Due to this, many men poured in to work to earn a living including their families.

The brothers Robert and Joseph Lytle were among the lumber magnates who had invested in Hoquiam in 1902 who later on became the world's largest cedar shingle manufacturing company. The following year became more profitable to the investors and the populace when another lumber concession surfaced namely the Grays Harbor Lumber Company and became the supplier of railroad projects of the Northern Railroad Company.

The Polson's Family was one among those who became more powerful in this venture. They have put up two (2) sawmills and one (1) shingle mill. In fact, they had built 2 grand mansions in the area one of which was preserved as the Polson museum and was made as National Registries Historical Place. The Polson's likewise had acquired 2o logging camps and construction camps, 100 miles of railroad and a vast series of valuable logging equipments than can produce 300 million feet of logs every year. Alex Polson then made Hoquiam his home since then. Soaring high in the lumber and logging business, they expanded further in real estate business.

In 1891, the lumber barons came into an agreement to merge their logging business between the Lytle Brothers and the Polson Brothers Logging Company. After twelve consecutive years, Merrill and Ring Corporation also affiliated with them making a one big powerful logging concession in the name of Polson Logging Company.

It was the ever powerful Polsons family who had huge control in the logging concession in Hoquiam and Grays Harbor region though about 300 small time operators still existed massively which is a clear indication of how rich and abundant are the forests in the Grays Harbor area.

The history of Hoquiam is indeed worth reading and very inspiring to those who have deep sentiments when it comes to their heritage and history. This place is certainly worth visiting, and exploring so that you can imbibe on the deep historical culture of the place.

When To Pay For A Date

By Betsy Anderson

Money plays a vital role in a relationship. Thus, it would be good for couples to settle the issue as early as possible to avoid conflict in the future. If you are already halfway into the relationship and have not done any discussion on the matter yet, then try to recall the first date you had and ask yourself, who paid for dinner or lunch, movies, taxi and others.

In the past, there was no question. It was always the man who paid for the first date. In fact, the man paid for most of the things, if not all of the things. This was the tradition then.

Today, times have changed, practically everything have changed. It is already acceptable to find women who ask men to go out on a date. So, the rule that man pays for dates is no longer a standard rule for all.

Oh, not all women are modern though. There are still the traditionalists who believe that men should pay for dates and there are many men who won't let a woman pay for a date. On your end, to clear up things, it is probably a good idea to ask your date what his beliefs on these matters are.

Try to be sensitive on how the date was asked. For example, if you were approached by a young man and asked, "May I have the honour of getting you dinner and bringing you to dancing."

Even in this modern era, finding a man who still wants to take charge of the date even if it was the woman who asked him out is pretty cool. So, if you asked him out and at the end of the date he wants to pay for the bill, then let him.

This would be the best occasion for you to ask her to give you the chance to pay back the kindness by letting you see her again on another date. If she denies, you may offer to pay 50/50 so that she will not be burdened by the expense.

Clearly, the modern way of dating is completely different from the traditional one even on the aspect of who pays for the date. Due to this uncertainty, it is often better to get this issue straightened as early as possible so that you will not be bother by this and you can focus on enjoying yourselves.

HOQUIAM'S BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL - the High Lonesome Sound

By Douglas Williamson

Hoquiam's residents with their passion for things that get people to be in touch with their history and reminiscences easily fell in love with Bluegrass music. So, once a year they celebrate everything about this type of song with local and visiting performers both amateur, professional as well as celebrity musicians get together in the historic Hoquiam Olympic Stadium to play, listen and feel everything in a Bluegrass tone. As the pioneer of Bluegrass music Bill Monroe once described the genre: "Scottish bagpipes and ole-time fiddlin'. It is Methodist and Holiness and Baptist. It is blues and jazz, and it has a high lonesome sound. It is plain music that tells a good story. It is played from my heart to your heart, and it will touch you. Bluegrass is music that matters."

The Grays Harbor Annual Bluegrass festival is attended by people from all walks of life, they come to Hoquiam city to partake of good music, good food, and good friends. Bluegrass music has always been welcome in Hoquiam, Washington and the Grays Harbor area, its long history of working class and their daily struggles to keep alive through hard work and doggedness, logging the surrounding forest long before the genre existed in its present form maybe explains the people's natural connection to this type of music.

Bluegrass music delivers a variety of emotions to the table when listened to and the audience is promised to enjoy the lively creative exchanges that characterize bluegrass music, all of this straight from the heart fiddlin and guitar play, the musicians daring each other to outdo the string of tunes his guitar or mandolin has played in quick succession as both are egged on by the audience to continue with their instrumental showdown of sorts.

Most traditional bluegrass bands use a mixture of stringed acoustic instruments that deliver continuous melodies that touch the heart and soul of those who listen in a lively sort of manner, instruments like the banjo, acoustic guitar, violin and mandolin are all played together or in sequence or support to the main musicians' efforts.

Instrumental solos are a crowd pleaser and you will get a lot of these amazing displays of pure raw talent during the Bluegrass festival. Band members try their best to outdo other bands or even their own band mates not so much so to show who is the best soloist but rather to entertain the crowd and give them a good time.

Visitors to the Grays Harbor Bluegrass festival are encouraged by the city and its residents to go around and mingle in good fun and enjoyment, with most visitors being very familiar with the city and already having acquaintances or established friends from previous visits to Hoquiam and the Grays Harbor area.

Some bluegrass bands add other instruments to their arrangement, instruments such as pianos, harmonicas and electric guitars and violins make for an interesting combination of sounds, but of avid fans they refer to this as "Newgrass" a sort of progression from the more traditional and purist form of the genre. Another distinct characteristic that bluegrass music has is the "high lonesome sound" a vocal harmony in four parts with a jarring blending of high pitch and baritone at the bottom and end mixed together to deliver a melody that is awaited by avid fans and scholars alike.

Being part of the Annual Grays Harbor Bluegrass festival is an experience not worth missing. People from all around go to Hoquiam city and experience live music, good food and good hospitality from the people of Hoquiam who love and know their bluegrass music.
