Accommodation for MICE Travelers in Barcelona

By Mike Riccione

The Fira Barcleona Congress Centre and Fairgrounds complex is one of the most important areas in the city for business. So, if you are called to a business conference anywhere in Catalonia, there's a good chance it will be held here. Being in the city for business you'll need somewhere convenient to stay, and there are a few areas that fit the bill just minutes away.

The complex is based just off the Placa de Espanya, which is one of the most important squares in the city. Many of the city's most important roads intersect here, which makes it a very accessible point.

If you are in Barcelona for business only, then try to base yourself as close to the square as possible. However, you may have some difficulty as there aren't too many apartments in the immediate neighbourhood. With the Magic Fountain on-site and the Palau Nacional, this is one of the most popular places to stay.

The city centre, however, is the best area when it comes to basing yourself for a few days. Indeed, it is set up specifically for tourists, so you can be sure that every amenity and activity is provided. What's more, you'll have a lot more choice in the specifics of the apartment that you are looking to stay in.

For those with tastes for the finer things, you might want to consider the Eixample area. It's not too far from the Congress Centre, especially if you book one of the buildings in lower Eixample. This area is popular among the business minded visitors to the city for the standard of living it is known to provide.

As you would expect from one of the more upscale areas, it is common to find some classy establishments. The restaurants and cultural attractions are among the best found anywhere in the city. You'll also find the Sant Antoni subdivision in Eixample, and it's even closer to the Congress Centre. So, there could be a chance that you will find somewhere within walking distance.

Not matter where you end up staying, the public transport in the city means you are never more than a few minutes away. Knowing this, you will be able to choose from a wider selection of areas. You don't have to confine yourself, the bus and rail routes can pick you up and drop you off right where you need to be.

If you are booking at the last minute, you may find options are not something you have many of. But one place you can always look to is the Arc de Triomf area. This is a mainly residential area with lots of ex-homes acting as apartment buildings. It certainly isn't the most expensive area of the town, but it's definitely not the worst.

Arc de Triomf is one of the best places to stay if you like to get around on foot. Some of the most famous sites are just a few minutes away. The cathedral is always attractive if you're on your first visit to Barcelona and so is Avinguda Diagonal if you love to shop.

And if you need to escape from what could be a extremely busy week, you also have the Parc de la Ciutadella to relax in. It has lots of open space where you can enjoy the fresh air.

So, if you are coming to Barcelona for a conference, renting an apartment could be the best way to go. You'll find some of the finest neighbourhoods to stay in are just a shot journey away, where accommodation to your liking is bound to exist. This will allow you to make the most of your free time, taking part in some shopping or sightseeing.
