Prevent Over-Tanning with these Tips

By Ganesh Chovorick

The sun is high, the beach is calling you and the season of summer is just around the corner. During summertime, a lot of people hit the beach to get a little rest and relaxation with their friends and family. Swimming at the deep blue sea and sneaking a bit of exercise by playing catch or beach volleyball are some activities you can do at the beach. You can even read your magazines and blu cigs reviews while chilling at the beach. But nothing beats getting a tan as a favorite pasttime of beach lovers.

Getting a little tan wouldn't hurt, especially if you know your skin's limit. But some people, due to prolonged sun exposure get 'baked' under the sun. In the end, they don't get the tan they want, and they turn to dark. This is something that you wouldn't want to happen.

In order to prevent browning yourself too much, try using a really good sunscreen on your skin. Apply this about 10 to 15 minutes before sun exposure, so that your skin will be able to absorb it. After which, you are now ready to stay under the sun. But remember to re-apply your sun block. A good way to determine the right kind of sun block for your skin is by going to your dermatologist to get her opinion on what you should use. You can also read reviews like the blu cig reviews to know more about a certain sun block brand that you want to use.

Another good thing to have when getting a tan is a timer, a watch or mobile phone will do. Why do you need one? You can set the time that you want, say 10 minutes, on your timer. The time given will be the time you will be using while under the rays of the sun. If the timer goes off, check your skin before deciding if you need a few more minutes or not. Don't stay too long in the sun because you may develop skin diseases and this is much worse than getting your skin baked.

If the sun is too hot for you, don't try to expose yourself. This may not be the right kind of rays you want on your skin. A sun that is too hot will lead to skin cancer, allergies and so many other skin diseases. Apart from this, you may also become dehydrated because of the heat. Before this happens, bring a bottle of water or a can of soda or juice with you to hydrate yourself.
