The background of some private center staff may be that they have some experience working with kids. They may be enrolled in a child type program at school and wish to work in a camp during the summer. Daycare staff members who open up camp programs will have an early childhood background. All staff will be trained in health and safety and will also have their first aid training. Employees will have training provided by the supervisor and will also get lots of books on camp style programing. Children should want to go to their daily summer program.

There are different types of summer care available for families to choose. There are childcare centers that will offer a different type of care for campers. Staff will follow a daily schedule and programing may include weekly trips and events that come to them. Each day will consist of planned activities and fun projects to take part in.

There may be museum camps, zoo programs and art facility weekly sessions. Kids will learn about the various facility through many theme related games and activities. To make the days interesting, some places will also engage in trips and public swimming.

Many programs have extended care and service for families who need it. Extra care could be offered a few hours before and after the camp schedule. During extra care, kids will be given free activities and may have video games or movies to watch.

A daily schedule will help to keep staff and campers organized. The morning part of the day could consist of a group type project. All campers may be encouraged to participate in a hands on project. They may get to see something built and complete before their eyes. After the morning project, the group may head outside to enjoy some summer fresh air.

In the afternoon, staff may take the campers swimming or on a trip. There are also neighborhood excursions that can take place to different parks. Outdoor equipment and toys can be brought out to use. Staff may also organize some fun water games or sports.
