I followed the instructions and took my time. As my son would say. I only replaced the main drive gear because the worm gear showed no wear and appeared it would work fine with the new main gear. Arrived in just a couple of days.
This is a complete solution to worn out drive gear in garage door opener. It helps to have a vice or something hard to pound against for that step. Wow, this kit saved me about $400 for a new garage door opener and being the gears were stripped, this answered and fixed the issue with the garage door from opening and making a grinding sound. I didn't want the new ones (made in China) yeah, you can see how long that will last.
Just make sure you have all the tools before you start. You could also support the back of the motor (shaft clear to move) and with the collar setscrew loosened, use a punch/drift to tap the motor shaft out of the interrupter wheel (there is a hole in the interrupter to get to the motor shaft). Now my door is back in business, saving me hundreds compared to calling a pro! Follow the directions exactly and make sure you have the proper punch tool indicated. Item was as expected but the instructions were difficult to follow. I used the original set screws which fit in the new retainer just fine.
Thank you so much, I saved a lot of money repairing it myself vs having to buy a new one. It was all dusty inside from the gear so I ordered this set instead of just the gear just in case I needed more parts when I took it apart. Lowering it worked fine, but it required extra time.
This garage door opener lasted 12 years. Replacing parts saves you Big Bucks when you are faced with replacing a garage door opening system!
Easy to replace the Teflon gear. Instructions were great, and installation was pretty painless. The door opener worked fine after installing these new parts.

Thanks I ordered this gear kit on Saturday afternoon and it was delivered on Tuesday. The kit came with detailed instructions which broke the process down into 5 main steps each with multiple individual tasks. Doing this will extend the life of the gear because it will place less tension on the gear and worm.
I had the most trouble removing the tightly set pin to replace the gear.
