Countless Benefits Of ATV Lift Kits

By Dolores Harrison

Any individual owning an all-terrain vehicle will most likely have ATV lift kits to be added to them. Having several additions and enhancements to vehicles help give the owner the best riding experience he will have with his vehicle. To those planning on acquiring an ATV, these kits need to be on the list of necessary additions. Knowing what purposes they have will make one have a more informed decision.

There are a variety of purposes these vehicles can be used for. They could be used for snow plowing, hunting, races, or just riding for recreation. Not all vehicles can handle rough terrains. ATVs were designed for such. Those who have adventurous spirits will surely enjoy them.

Most ATV enthusiasts want their models bigger. Larger sizes of their units means stronger power and easier maneuverability in tough conditions. Owners seek to improve their vehicles in terms of functionality and appearance. Hence, they add several accessories to them which significantly improves driving experiences.

Kits are designed so that the vehicle will have larger vertical clearance and enable larger tires to be attached to them. Having these large tires allows the vehicle to operate in conditions where a normal vehicle could not operate such as in snow, mud, or deep water. There is always a model that is available for any type of machines whether they are two or four-wheel drives.

In terms of installation, it will generally take few hours. However, the procedure of installing it is not actually very complicated. What is needed, aside for the kit, are normal tools which almost everyone have in their garages. A higher elevation of the fender from the tire will be achieved after installation which is way much better compared with conventional lifting suspensions.

Common kits are designed to increase suspension travel of vehicles. The suspension, swing arm of machine, and shocks are installed with blocks. Nothing more is required. The kit is only to be added. However, more advanced versions may need drive chains, wheel spacers, and break lines extensions to complete installation. Radical ones will need significantly longer drive axles and more suspension pieces.

Different models fit different vehicles. One could not just get one and add them to vehicles. Height needs consideration as toppling of vehicles are increased with increased height. Another good addition to them are snorkel systems. They serve as higher intake of air so engine could still run even when fully submerged in water. This works by elevating air intake from below machine frames to higher handle control levels just like a normal water snorkel functions.

There are manufacturers who will suggest the addition of wheel spacers. This places the wheel farther from axles. This is a great answer to the problem of stability with greater heights associated with lifts. The gravity center is made stable when wheels are farther apart. It is because roll centers are being lowered through wheel spacer use. Maneuverability at off-road environments is significantly enhanced.

There are a lot of ATV lift kits available now. Before making any purchases, one should see to it that he selects the right one that fits to his purpose and vehicle itself. These are not hard to find among specialty shops. Making a good purchase of the right model will surely help owners have a long lasting and enjoyable riding experience.
