Traveling Or Holidaying In Thailand Is A Stunning Southeast Asian Country

Thailand is one of the most beautiful and popular countries in the Southeast Asian region. It is usually the first port of call for those who are visiting Southeast Asia and has a wide variety of attractions for visitors. These include, stunning islands, beaches, culture, historical sites, trekking opportunities and amazing party places.

The first port of call for the majority of visitors to Thailand is the wonderful city of Bangkok. Bangkok has much to offer visitors and is well worth staying in for a few days. It is easy to get away from the craziness of the Koh San Road and Banglamphu area. You can see the beautiful temples of Wat Arun and Wat Pho with its huge reclining Buddha. Sukhumvit has many fantastic bars and those who like to go clubbing will love the party scene in Thong Lo.

Thailand is excellent value for money and long term travelers will be able to enjoy the majority of attractions in the country on a modest budget, including the beautiful islands. Your choice of island will depend much on what you are wanting to do.

Families will be best suited to the beaches of Phucket, Koh Samui, Koh Pi Pi or Koh Lanta as these offer a higher level of accommodation options and better facilities. Party animals will love Koh Phangan for its party scene, especially during the full moon.

Backpackers who enjoy the hippy/reggae scene will enjoy the island of Koh Chang, which has live music every night and a beautiful beach. Divers will enjoy Koh Tao, Which has amazing dive sites and the perfect and cheapest place to become a qualified scuba diver.

The beach on Thailand's mainland are also very popular. These include: Pataya, Hua Hin and Krabi. Pataya and Hua Hin are pretty close to Bangkok. Krabi is a little further south but offers fantastic scenery and awesome climbing activities. Krabi also has the famous limestone Karst known as James Bond Island, which juts out of the sea. It looks spectacular from the beach at Au Nang.

Those who prefer a more cultural experience should really head north to Chiang Mai, Pai, Chiang Rai and Mai Hong Song. Here there are plenty of trekking opportunities to hill tribe villages. Chiang Mai is beautiful city, the old center of the city contains many beautiful Lanna style Buddhist temples and There is also Wat Doi Suthep, which is a famous temple up on a hill just outside of the city.

Chiang Mai is consider to be the perfect place in which to learn about Thai Buddhism and cooking Thai food. You can also learn to speak Thai and enjoy a Buddhist retreat at Wat Doi Suthep. So Thailand has something for everyone, whether you want to party, go trekking or just relax you can be sure to enjoy the trip pf a lifetime. Thailand is often the first country visited by long term travelers in Southeast Asia, who will also enjoy Indonesia, Sulawesi, Bali, Laos, Myanmar and many other exciting destinations.
