Tactical Paintball Gear Must Haves

By Heidi Carver

If you are thinking about how to maximize the fun times now that the weather is good, your best bet is to try fun outdoor activities. If you are more of the calm and laid back type, then you might enjoy growing flowers in your backyard or having a picnic. But, if you prefer to get all sweaty and work all those muscles and joints, you might want to try out the newest trend which is tactical paintball.

Paintball is a growing sport that more and more people are starting to love. From the first game way back in 1981 up to the present times, the popularity of the sport has reached out to over 25 countries, including the United States. The sport is basically a game of tag where people shoot paint at each other from special guns. The aim of the game is to eliminate all sixteen members of opposing team by leaving upon their tactical paintball gear paint marks that are roughly the size of a quarter or larger.

Paintball can also help develop some useful skills. One of these is strategy. Because the sport requires you not to get hit with paint, you need to develop a strategy to bring your opponents down without getting eliminated yourself. Another skill that can be developed is cooperation. Since it is a group game, a player needs to cooperate with fellow team members to win. There are still a lot more, like learning to be quick and accepting defeat.

If you think that this is indeed the sport for you, then you will have to arm yourself with equipment every player needs. First off, you need a gun. And no, not any gun but a paintball gun.

If you have a gun, the next thing you will need is the ammunition. Unlike the usual guns we see that are loaded with bullets, you will have to use paintball shells. They come in varying dimensions but the most commonly used is the . 68 caliber barrel.

You now have the weapon, so the next gear you need are masks and helmets. You need to protect your head as you jump, roll, dive and duck in order to avoid getting hit. Masks are also essential as they protect your eyes from being hit. Most masks have a tendency to fog and obstruct your vision, so opt for ones with thermal lenses.

While there are no required clothes for this sport, it is absolutely necessary to wear comfortably loose articles so that you can move around with ease. You may find that most players wear camouflage during play, but this is not a standard equipment. You can even wear an old pair of jeans and a simple tee when playing.

You will also need a vest. There are protective vests that you can wear to minimize the amount of pain you will feel when you get hit. These kinds of vests do not have pockets, though. Vests with pockets are also available, and you can use them to hold important articles.

In playing, safety is a key factor. Make sure you equip yourself with quality gears to avoid accidents that can prove to be fatal. There are a lot of good brands if you have it in your budget to purchase brand new ones. If not, you can always buy secondhand ones or rent it out whenever you feel like playing.
