What One Should Know About LED Obstruction Lights

By Linda Ruiz

The modern technology and its multitude of gadgets and other flashy stuff has indeed proved to be really useful to help people have a far more better life than what the previous generations have experienced. The rise of modernization has brought about a lot of welcome changes in most aspects of the society, especially when its comes to transportation. Whereas before it would take weeks, even months, for people to get to far off places, today it only takes about a matter of hours, thanks to the advent of the airplane.

Even though experts adamantly say that air travel is a lot more safer than that of land and sea, of course there are still some dangers attached to it. As of late, the world has been thoroughly shocked at the increased number of plane crashes that has led to the untimely and painful death of so many people. Due to these dangers posed by air travel, authorities have increased their safety measures as well, among these is the use of led obstruction lights.

These also come by the name aircraft warning lights. These are high intensity lighting materials that are affixed to tall structures. They are placed so as to serve as some form of collision avoidance measures. They are used all day, most especially when it gets dark, so as to warn pilots of the existence of the said structure.

Aside from using these rays of caution, some buildings also use other stuff. These include the usage of flags and highly colorful patterns. The colored patterns are composed of two toned squares that are to be able to form a checkered pattern. In accordance to set rules, these should be no bigger than three meters, yet no smaller than one and a half meters. The flags are also to bu used in huge numbers, all strategically perched atop the highest apex of the said building.

As for the obstruction lamps, they are broadly classified into three big groups. Low intensity lamps are to be placed not less than forty five meters from the ground. They are of an ominous reddish hue, whose intensity should go no lower than ten candelas.

The medium intensity is the second classification. They are used when the object is extensive and the height above the ground is more than 45 meters. Type A lamps of this intensity display a white color. These white lamps should have a minimum intensity of about two thousand candelas.

The high intensity group is the last classification. Like the medium class, the lamps in this type also emits a white glow. They are brighter, too, with a minimum intensity of two thousand candelas. They are typically found in heights reaching 150 meters and above.

There are many types of bulbs used in these warning signals, but the most used is the LED type. Light Emitting Diodes are the latest products kn the industry, and has many promising benefits. It is said that the LED is far better than the incandescent and fluorescent when it comes to performance.

The types of bulbs are also believed to have longer life span as compared to the others. One LED bulb can last up to sixty thousand hours of usage. They are also widely used for their energy efficient characteristics, as they allow energy savings for up to ninety percent.
