Significance Of Aviation Warning Beacon

By Dorothy Allen

Air travel is one of the most growing industries across the globes. The demand for air tours and travel has tremendously increased probably due to its fast nature and comfort. The FAA regulations recommend installation of lighting strobes on tall building and structures that exceeds two hundred feet. The aviation warning beacon is used to guide pilots on the safest passage available and eliminate collision with objects and other flights. The signals are important at night as well as during the day. The colors used during the day are different from those used at night.

The FAA has clear guidelines and regulations that are aimed at preventing incidences of collisions and accident. The regulations recommend that all structures that are taller than 200 feet to be attached with a strobe light. Those that are located near or in airports should contain illuminating strobes irrespective of their heights. Pilots are able to clear visualize tall buildings when they are far away, hence, make informed decisions. The installation procedure is a bit complex, and requires to be handled by a qualified and experienced engineer.

The colors used to pass warning can be categorized into two. The red lamps are programmed to produce high intensity light that goes on and off consecutively for every couple of minutes. They can also be programmed to stay illuminated throughout. The white lambs commonly known as xenon discharge devices are available. Nevertheless, with the growth in the air travel industry strobes of wide range of colors can be acquired. The colors may range from blue, amber, and blue to green coded ones that are used to pass special messages.

The colors are used to represent diverse airports that are available within the urban area. Red lights can effectively produce visible signals in densely populated areas. Xenon flashers that produced white colored signals are appropriate for tall structures that are present in rural areas. They are visible during the day, but blends with other sources of light at night, hence, can cause accidents if pilots are relying on them. Yellow colored types can be used to pass sensitive codes to airports and other control stations.

The high rate of invention of new technology as resulted in establishment of tall structures in urban and rural areas. Therefore, strobe lights are produced in large volume to meet the high demand. When choosing the best warning beacon the level of brightness and quality of material used in the modeling process should serve as a guide.

In order to install the devices according to the specified regulation, the technician must possess the right training and experience. She or he must have passed a state administered examination. Certification serves as a confirmation of possessing skills and knowledge on installation principles.

The laws that guide the installation procedure differ from one state to another. The color specifications are also different. The red and white colors are commonly accepted across the globe. The structures should be painted with a color that can be identified from far.

It is worth noting that the lights are helpful to both pilots and passengers. The passengers can afford to relax and feel safe when they can spot the signals from a distance. Obviously, flying around tall buildings will seem scary, and level of fear is significantly reduced when the objects are clearly visible.
