The Merits Of Horseback Riding Long Island

Horseback riding refers to the art of vaulting, riding and steeple chasing with horses. Horses are used for various purposes; hence, the definition of the term is broad. Horses can be used for movement of luggage, practical jobs, recreation, sports and even cultural practices such as horseback riding long island.

Horseback riding have been there since time memorial whereby it is dated several centuries back. It is estimated that these horses were ridden at 3500 BC through archeological evidence of teeth remains and other parts of the horses. This evidence shows that horses were used in war and in peaceful actions like agriculture and transport of people and goods.

Let us have a wider view of using horsebacks, starting with job purposes. Horses are commonly used by police forces to keep law and order in various functions including political rallies and in cases of riots whereby the animals speed is advantageous in reaching out for the people who are rioting. The horses and the personnel who ride them are highly trained in cases of unrests in order to have the job done professionally.

The second importance of horses is to ensure swift movement of goods and people from a region to another due to their swiftness, flexibility and ability to access remote places that were deemed difficult to reach like thickets, marshlands and so on. Horses also offered the most reliable means of transport in times of rural to urban migration, or urban to rural migration because they are strong enough to pull the heavy chariots loaded with luggage. Horses revolutionized transportation by ensuring that people and goods moved smoothly from one place to another.

Recreational activities also called for using horses. People would use horses for leisure purposes and these activities brought people together since everyone had one common goal for the day. People from different communities interacted well with each other in these activities hence bringing forth intermarriages and peace among them.

The culture of a particular community is important since it acts as a guideline for the people in ensuring that they uphold the moral values and conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Horses were important since they were used in cultural ceremonies like funerals where the horses transported the mourners and the corpse, and also in weddings where they pulled chariots carrying the bride and the groom. In most occasions, the horses pulled carriages that were mounted on them.

The other area of application of horseback riding is in horse racing, which has different categories including thoroughbred and steeple chasing. The commonest category of horse racing in the world is thoroughbred (its otherwise also known as flat racing), and one that is governed by The Jockey Club in the US. Steeple chasing (also referred to as the National Hunt Racing based in the UK) is also significant and it involves horse racing on flat open fields, in a ground where they can jump over several hurdles.

In the long run horseback riding has more merits than demerits since it helps to complete various tasks in the community. There is need for training people from the tender age to enable them get life skills which they use when they mature. Peace is also brought about when horses are used in various functions and community gatherings where people meet with common goals, lets embrace good horse keeping skills for a better tomorrow.
