Different Programs Offered At A Sedona Wellness Retreat

By Donna Clark

When looking for guidance, inspiration and healing, Arizona has a lot to offer. More specifically, visiting a Sedona Wellness retreat can provide all this and more. For, Arizona has the only residential based educational retreat which offers juicing, cleansing, detoxing and other programs.

Unlike most spas or hotels, these retreats offer a design more in line with an upper scale bed and breakfast. While this is the case, unlike bed and breakfasts, these retreats offer a number of demonstrations, nutritional talks, educational programs and a number of therapies. In most cases, staff members will guide guests through each phase of the program answering any questions and addressing concerns on a daily basis.

While some guests are looking to lose weight in order to create happier and healthier lives, others are merely looking for solace and contemplation. Most of these facilities provide a comfortable cozy atmosphere with limited guests in each program. As a result, most guests leave these retreats having reached desired goals related to overall health and well being.

While services are often different at each location, all tend to focus on cleansing and detoxification. In one case, this can be achieved through a wellness program in which guests are provided vegetables, fresh fruits and juices during a cleanse along with organic gourmet meals. Most often, guests are provided a private room, bathroom with health checks and medical monitoring on a daily basis by staff with experience in holistic medicine and healing.

In addition to wellness plans, some wellness centers also offer fasting retreats which can include health and water fasts. While fasting has become a popular trend over the last several decades, it is actually an ancient and common practice among a number of different cultures. In most cases, the primary purpose is the same across the board, to create and promote positive aspects of physical, mental and spiritual health.

Over the last fifty years, efforts have been made to develop an organized approach in using fasting to facilitate a self-healing process. Most often, retreats whom offer these type programs guide individuals through the program, then provide after care and follow up visits. During these sessions, staff often recommends various lifestyle and dietary changes which can be beneficial to overall health and well being.

If interested in one of these retreats, a number of listings and reviews can be found on sites such as Yelp or by entering Sedona wellness centers on any search engine. While some offer residential based programs, others offer daily, weekly and monthly programs in which guests can either come and go or remain on-site.

Most of these health programs are based on non-toxic nutritional protocols. In most cases, these protocols work to calm the mind, strengthen the immune system, detoxify the individual and restore a metabolic balance to the body. Whereas, all plans are highly personalized and can often be combined with other therapies based on individual desires, goals and needs.
