A big plus is that a large number of these beaches are patrolled.

On the central beach you have the opportunity to rent watersports equipment of a large variety. Some of these options include surf boards, wake boards, jet skis and body boards.

Available activities in the immediate area are plentiful. If you don't fancy just lying on a beach or joining in the available watersports options, why not join one of the regularly volleyball games taking place in the central beach area every day? Even if you prefer not to play yourself, you could still derive a lot of enjoyment from simply watching some good players in action in one of these games.

If you like water but you don't like to get wet, there's always the option of joining one of the numerous available whale watching cruises and fishing charters that depart regularly. And if you prefer to feel solid ground under your feet, but still would like some exercise, why not partake in a game of mini golf (or real golf for that matter)? For the more adventurous there's even the opportunity to go bungy jumping.

If you have been to the Surfers Park area before, you are no doubt aware of the numerous theme parks in the Queensland area. Here you can spend days filled with glorious fun with the whole family without having to get yourself wet!

If you are a motor sport enthusiast, try to schedule your visit during October, when the Gold Coast Super GP takes place every year. Fans look forward to this for the whole year, so make sure not to miss it if you find yourself in the vicinity.

Of course the surfing at Surfers Paradise is great. If you are a surfer, coming without your surfboard would be the ultimate folly. But it's after hours that the fun really starts. Once the sun sets, the numerous bars and nightclubs in the streets adjoining the beaches start to open. A particularly popular area is Orchid Street, where you'll find a high concentration of clubs and bars. The competition between them is fierce, so if you keep your eyes open you will find many bargains such as reduced entrance fees and sometimes even free drinks. Theme parties take places in many of them every night, so once the fun starts it doesn't easily stop!

Should you be visiting the area with your family and clubs and bars are not really your thing, you and the family can enjoy great evenings of window shopping in the Cavill Avenue area. Here you will also find numerous street artists, circus acts and other entertainment virtually every night of the week.

Surfers Paradise is therefore not only for surfers: it offers something for every member of the family.
