For Business Or Vacation Look Into Sydney Australia Hotels Before You Leave

By Alison McCubbin

Sydney has the largest population of any city in Australia and is a buzzing metropolis with millions of visitors every year. This capital of New South Wales has built thousands of hotels to provide for its tourists and business travelers and there is probably more than one of these Sydney Australia hotels that is a perfect stay for your next trip. Many hotels have websites to visit before you go, or check them out in current tour books.

There are hundreds of reasons to visit Sydney and to find the right hotel, you must know the region or regions in which you plan to go. There are 17 regions within Sydney, each having their own smaller cities and governments. If traveling for work it may be simpler to find a hotel of choice of hotels, than vacationing, as you already know where you are headed. Taking into consideration the numerous appealing sites and things to do when on vacation is best before deciding where to stay. If you are a sports' fan you may wish to visit Olympic Park where much of the 2000 Summer Olympic Games took place. Or you may want to take in a rugby game, the premier pro-sport of Australia. Since Sydney is on the Tasman Sea, water sports are also popular with tourists.

Culture is an important part of Sydney's lifestyle and tourism, too. The Opera House, overlooking the harbor, is world famous. Also often visited by tourists are the Sydney Tower and Royal Botanical Gardens as well as numerous museums, the Sydney Aquarium and Wildlife World Zoo. And, for sun lovers, beaches are located just 30 minutes from downtown including Manly Beach for the surfing crowd and the winter holiday spot of Bondi Beach.

Sydney is well-know as being "the" place to shop. In the heart of the city, most department stores and shopping arcades are located close to each and are connected by walkways and underground tunnels.

Hotels in every price range are available close to any of these areas or attractions that may be of your interest. You must decide on the amenities you need, those that are secondary, but you may also want, and what is within your budget. Even the cheapest hotels may have the amenities you need such as an onsite restaurant, room service, laundry and dry cleaning, security, onsite parking and in-room telephones and televisions. Do check to make sure there is a private bathroom, as some lodging may not provide it.

Sydney and Australia, in general, are somewhat unique in their tourism demands, as they entertain a variety of tourists from around the world, perhaps more equally in numbers than anywhere else. Located in Asia, they play an important role in Asia's business world, as well as vacation locations. Since the country of Australia belongs to the British Empire, it is of continued primary interest to Englishman. And despite the distance, it is a premier destination to European and American tourists as well.

Hotels, especially the larger luxury ones, may specialize in their appeal to one general audience or try to combine a flavor to entice all visitors. Included may be a restaurant catering to a particular nationality or world-region with a similar flavor in local stores. In a hotel such as this, employees may be bilingual or multi-lingual, to provide proper care of their visitors. The finer hotels will offer more amenities such as a health spa, massage, gym equipment and perhaps tennis courts, a pool and Jacuzzi. There may be more than one restaurant, a nightclub and several stores in which to shop. Rooms will be more plush with finer bedding and linens. And, in general, hotels with a view, especially of the harbor, will be in this finer class of hotel.

Of course, accommodations can always be found for the travel family in the mid-price range, between cheap and luxury. Booking early can assure you the proper accommodations for your trip. Knowing where you want to visit and what you plan on doing is essential before knowing where to look for the proper hotel for you.
