Cherokee Camping Tent - Finding The Right One

By William Bell

There are many different types of camping tents available in the market. Choosing the desired type for your camping adventure goes a long way in determining the kind of camping experience you are going to have. The following will help guide you through deciding which Cherokee camping tent is the better option for you.

Dome canopies typically allow enough headroom to stand in the center, but floor space is limited. The dome make-up allows for featherweight tents with desirable element-withstanding abilities, though most persons who use this type of dome are planning to sleep in it only, and not spend a lot of time inside. Dome canopies are lighter because they use fewer poles - sometimes only one or two - and are quite simple to set up, often needing only one person.

Camp tents can be ridge tents with ridges on both sides sloping towards the ground - these are easiest to set up and can accommodate as many as three individuals. The larger types are the frame tents built with crisscross poles with a vinyl covering for the top secured by pegs and ropes.

These domes are heavier but will allow more space for large parties. A cabin dome looks like a cabin, with walls that go nearly straight up. It will provide room for several cots or air mattresses, and many cabin domes also have an attached screened room to set up a picnic table or store gear. A cabin dome design will give campers the ability to stand completely erect in the dome, since many of them reach at least 7 feet tall.

Tunnel tents use hoops arranged in series over which the fabric is stretched thereby creating a tunnel. They are the easiest style canopy to pitch and offer the most internal space and height. They are one of the most robust and if staked correctly can be used in high winds and inclement weather thus making them most popular with hikers.

Ensure that seams of the tents are double-stitched and folded with seam sealers that are easily available in stores selling tent supplies. The canopy should have a rain fly that allows water to flow down the canopy sides. Good waterproofing capabilities are what you must look for even if that means spending a few extra bucks. Heavy duty zippers are a must because these are going to be regularly used. One-piece tub floor made of waterproof material and without any seams so that water does not leak in your camp tents.

Some people have commented in reviews that the seams of their large camp domes have leaked. This is a rare problem among dome canopies, but it is not a bad idea to get a seam sealer kit for yours, just in case.

Camp tents that can be stored in a compact manner are easier to travel with and more convenient to store in your garage. Decide on a budget that suits you before you buy camp tents. So when you are thinking of buying camping tents for family holidays look for reputed manufacturers and visit specialist manufacturers of canopy supplies to view their items on display.
