How To Survive A Michigan Royal Rangers Winter Camp

By Kenneth Stewart

During the cold season, it might be hard to perform certain group activities as most people may find the cold to be too much. It will hence be hard to spend time in the chilly weather and still achieve the goals you intended to. Surviving a Michigan Royal Rangers winter camp requires one to take the following precautions so as to cope with the cold.

When planning to go somewhere for fun or any other mission, ensure that you look into the location you are about to make your destination. Depending on the kind of climate you are comfortable with, there are many places one can choose. While some areas are extremely cold, others are moderate with less snowfall and most appropriate for the members of this group to enjoy themselves.

The importance of the weather forecast is to enable you to make the necessary plan on their activities of that particular day. Check what the weatherman says about the climatic conditions for the days you are planning to be on the site. You will be in a position to know what to carry and how to handle certain extreme conditions like storms.

A great emphasis during this season is the clothing. Since one cannot control the weather especially when away from home, clothing becomes the best way they can keep themselves warm to avoid the common diseases that are associated with this kind of climate. One should dress in as many warm clothes as possible and carry more in their bags too.

Take your time to plan and know the right equipment that you should bring to the site. These are the things that will make things easier for you that may not be very necessary in summer events. Stoves for instance must be present as a lot of heating will be required especially when in need of water to drink which is mostly frozen and will need melting.

The weather will require people to keep warm at all times, even during the day. This means that a lot of firewood will be consumed and carrying a lot of it is important. People should not assume that they will collect firewood in the bushes near the sites. This may not be possible as the one outside will be wet due to the climatic conditions and may not light.

A lot of food should be carried to the site. Clothes and fire are not enough to survive the cold climate. The place might be too cold that even the people become inactive. Food is a good way to have energy produced in the body. Starchy and sugary snacks like chocolates are known for making the body warmer. Take hot beverages too for the same.

Cold nights tend to be longer than other nights. In the winter, the nights are naturally longer too. These two factors combined will make the nights to be even longer during the mission. It is therefore important to plan on some night time activities so that you will not go to be too early. This will help pass time and reduce boredom.
