The industrialization on human activity and the environment had begun to manifest its negative effects, one of is excessive light. As industries began to expand, the quality and range of their communication are being developed, resulting to the towers being built to satisfy that need. These towers need to go by the standards established by the government to mitigate the excessive light these towers may produce, resulting to the application of medium intensity tower lighting.

Light pollution can easily be the result of the excessive lights, which will surely result to damages done to the environment, affecting human beings. The usage of too much light can account for energy waste, this practice is costly for human beings, and for the companies as well. Due to the energy demand of the world today, sources that are usually from the environment will be utilized even up to exhaustion. Exhaustion of the sources can convert the living conditions from favorable to unfavorable conditions.

The medium intensity lighting system is being preferred for towers that have heights of seventy feet or maybe less above the ground level. The system can be operated during the daylight and twilight. Height of these towers is a condition to be considered in the number of levels that are to be recommended by the government, this includes the appurtenances and antennas of towers, here are the usual levels and its preferences during the installation.

Top levels of a tower. One can install one or more lights at the summit of a structure to grant coverage that is encompassing every angle, ensuring an unobstructed panoramic view to pilot in an aircraft. Considering this standard can avoid the increase of air traffic in the vicinity.

Preferences for appurtenances that are 40 feet and below. The preferable solution to an appurtenance, on this height, that is not able to support this kind of system, is to install the lights on the base. Yet, when the pilot is still experiencing obstructions on his line of sight, then adding lights is another solution.

Applications on appurtenances exceeding forty feet. If an antenna, rod or any appurtenance is exceeding forty feet above the tip of the structure, the system is to be placed within forty feet from the tip of the appurtenance. If the appurtenance is incapable of support, a pole with one or more lights should be mounted adjacent to it.

Preferences for the lowest levels. On this height, units shall be situated above the neighboring terrains, buildings or trees. This preference is allowing the light to penetrate through without any obstruction.

Of course, installing proper marking and lighting will depend on the terrain features, weather patterns, and location of the structure. The correct marking and lighting of towers are not to be taken lightly. Every applied standard are meant to produce an acceptable level of aviation safety.

The establishment of these standards by the government was put up to safeguard the comfort and security of its citizens and the world they are living in. Each regulation is to safeguard not only those who are flying but those who are traversing in the ground, as well. The value of human existence and longevity through movements that promote to lessen light pollution must be a top priority of companies who are erecting towers in accordance to their need in thriving in world of technological advancements today.
