Propeller Governor Maintenance Is Vital In Having A Safe Flight

By Sarah King

Many people are afraid of traveling in planes. This is because the survival rate of surviving a plane crash is very low, most accidents have even no survivors. Therefore, the aircraft must be heavily checked by mechanics in order to lessen plane accidents. Doing propeller governor maintenance and on each part of the aircraft should not be neglected and should be deemed important by every owner and mechanic.

The azure control lever situated in the center of the cockpit is the control operated by the pilots in maneuvering their plane. The pitch and speed of propeller blades are controlled through that lever. During harsh winds and weathers, the pilot can get the desired RPM in order for them to survive the harshness.

From the moment the plane takes off the ground until it touches it again, the propeller does not operate on the same RPM. The pilot would need to maximize the RPM in order to have a proper take off. To maintain altitude, the pilot will do the necessary adjustments that is suitable for cruising.

The angle of the blades is adjusted through the propeller governor. When the pilot is just cruising, the pilot will decrease the speed, thereby little fuel is being used up. Hence, the importance of checkup is not only for safe flights but also for owners to experience money savings.

In the acquisition of the appropriate speed, the governor will move oil to and fro the hub. The governor also senses speed changes and changes on the angles of blades. With the above mentioned vital function of this component, owners should put into considerations the tips mentioned below.

For owners of this machine, they should read and respect the manual that is provided to them. Each plane is made differently by its manufacturer. Therefore, they should familiarize themselves of every important note mentioned in the manual. Also, in that manual, is stated the stations that can give the owners quality service and repair which are certified by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Pilots should have diligence in conducting ocular inspections of propellers. They should look for any scratches, erosions, bruises, dents, and nicks on the surfaces of this part, when remained unfixed, these minor problems may develop into an unfixable one. There are mechanics out there that are licensed by the FAA, which is more than capable of repairing the machine in order for pilots to have a safe flight.

When cleaning the propeller, do not hose down the component. Use oily rags to get rid of stains on the component. It should be done before and after the flight and as regularly as possible it could be especially when flying near salt water bodies.

However, the licensed expert should not be solely employed during repairs. Individuals should employ such expert in maintaining the machine. The kind of maintenance from this expert will cover all components and every corner of the machine. It should be done yearly which can greatly quell the worries of the passengers, and also, maintenance can eradicate unnecessary expenses.
