Where to go on holiday in September

By Andrew Jacobs

September is the ideal time for a vacation in many parts of the world. September signals transitional season for autumn in the northern hemisphere or spring in the southern. Off-season affords lower airfares, better accommodations and smaller crowds since the new academic year predominately commences in September.

Carrying the current political situation concerning Mabarak, a top spot in Egypt is Sharm el Sheikh famous for its amazing views, outdoor activities and great festivals. A outing to Res Mohamed National Park affords the chance to see 20 million year old fossils and coral. Conditions for snorkeling off the coasts of Tiran Island are ideal in September. For snorkeling fans who have no fear going to the ocean floor, a special Jacques Cousteau discovery, the Thistlegrom, is still there.

For those of all religious persuasions, scaling Mt. Sinai where the biblical prophet Moses received the 10 Commandments should glaringly not be missed. Very nearby is St. Catherine's Monastery going back to 337AD where an order of monks is still in residence. September climatic conditions in Sharm el Sheikh are 39C/102F with 0 rainfall.

To many folk, nothing associated with the changing of the seasons is more stunning than when leaves begin to turn from green to undescribable shades of color in the northern and mid-Atlantic states of the U. S. of America in the fall. With temperature change being the most important factor, the fall foliage season often starts in mid-September in the New England states and continues till mid to late October in the southernmost mid-Atlantic states. Among many impressive ways to experience the wonder of the fall is driving along the Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia to southwestern North Carolina.

Irrespective of where one decides to vacation in the month of Sept it is always advisable to have a holiday cancellation insurance policy in view of adverse weather conditions and political unrest around the world.
