The Good Life in Central Portugal

Many daydream of a new life in a village in Central Portugal where they would have the opportunity to relax, live the good their life and enjoy great quality produce locally. In Lagares, Central Portugal you will come across a little village with a range of local deliveries of fresh produce on offer. The village of Lagares is a rural and traditional village with easy access to the IP3 and IC6 which connect you with the rest of Central Portugal.

What benefits does this charming region have to entice you ? Travanca do Mondego can be reached on foot in 10 minutes. This nearby community boasts a small shop for those goods not delivered to the doorstep, a couple of cafe's doubling as bars, along with excellent primary level educational opportunities for children.

If you enjoy the outdoors there are lots of leisure facilities and opportunities in the local area including horse rides, bike rides, hiking and delightful woodland walks. There are also plenty of water activities nearby on lakes created by the Aguiera dam like fly fishing, sailing,boating activities, swimming or pedalos. This area boasts a stunning amount of lakeside to be enjoyed. There are a variety of good restaurants and bars locally the closest restaurant is in Silveirinho, or you are able to enjoy a BBQ most of the year thanks to the warm and sunny climate.

Mountains exist in just a twenty five min drive, and nestled among them is the 27-hole Montebelo golf course. This unique golf course provides the opportunity to enjoy your sport whilst benefiting from the incredible views of the Serra do Caramulo and Serra da Estrella mountain ranges.

In just 4 kilometres is Sao Pedro de Alva. And here you can locate secondary education, health clinics, banking, a post office and shops with more options of refreshment in local bars and cafe's'. For larger supermarkets and choice of facilities you can reach Penacova, Mortagua, Santa Comba Dao or Coimbra within 15 minutes to half an hour. Coimbra includes several impressive malls with cinema's, bowling and a great choice of food in the food halls. It is a historic University City, and is home to the Universidade de Coimbra. The Universidade was founded long ago, in 1290. Coimbra City, provides endless visual and culinary opportunities to remember for years to come A short drive away you are the historical Roman ruins in Conimbriga open to visitors.

From Lagares you can visit the Serra da Estrella National Park an hour away with skiing facilities available part of the year. A drive west will direct you to the coast where you will find endless seaside to relax on including Praia da Tocha and Figueira da Foz.
