Fun Ways To Revitalize Your Marriage

By Ella Hemmings

Let's face it, our days are busy and we get so involved in job-related issues, kid-related issues and all of our chores that we forget to focus on our marriage. Sadly, losing this special connection with your spouse usually has dire consequences. Rather than continue to drift, here are some easy ways to revitalize this important relationship.

Too often the problem is that you don't spend any time together, just the two of you, doing something fun. Make a promise to go out one night each week even if it's just for an hour or two. Go out for coffee, take a long walk, visit a local museum, pack a picnic lunch and head to the park or just enjoy a dinner for two and a movie.

Your weekly date also could take place during the day. For instance, if you are both golf lovers, consider making a weekly golf date. If you love the great outdoors, plan a weekly hike. Book a whale watching trip, rent a kayak or bicycle around the park. Go antique shopping or visit a flea market. A wine-tasting trip or going to the zoo or even something silly like miniature golf or go-karting can be fun.

Sometimes you have to be the one to make that first move, so just start out with something simple, like packing them a special lunch with their favorite treats or maybe bringing home a bouquet of flowers. Send a cute text now and then or write a note in your lipstick on the bathroom mirror. Transform yourself back into that fun girlfriend or boyfriend you were back in the day when you were dating. Obviously, life has changed, but you can still have fun.

Sometimes it's a great idea to plan a vacation just for the two of you. Ask friends or family to watch the kids for a long weekend or even a week and get away. Select someplace where relaxation is the main focus of your trip, such as cabin in the wilderness or perhaps a cruise or a romantic trip to somewhere in paradise such as Maui. An island vacation in Maui is a particularly romantic option, filled with soft ocean breezes, warm tropical waters and spectacular sunsets. Often, a change of scene alone will help two people reconnect.

If you do plan a Maui getaway, surprise your partner with a truly romantic gesture, such as a vow renewal ceremony right on the beach. Contact Love Maui Weddings and let these experienced Maui wedding planners handle all the details. They offer a special vow renewal package for just $299, entitled "Love, Always."
