A well kept secret for travelers is now fast emerging into the global tourist scene. This secret, found in the province of British Columbia are called the Caroline Islands, or Haida Gwaii. If you are of a mind in booking some Haida Gwaii accommodations, it is best to know what goes on in the archipelago first before making a final decision.

The fact that one can watch whales from this island chain the whole year round is a contributor to its growing popularity. Thus if you are itching to watch whales in close proximity, then Haida Gwaii may be the best place to do this. Many newcomers have become acquainted with the species o humpbacks, gray whales and orcas. How much you get to see on any particular day will depend on month or season. Thus try to have first some kind of research on the best times to go so you can gain more value for money.

It would be expected that a majority of activities will involve water, but you can have a lot of land based activities as well to make your visit worthwhile. Quite a few tourists do take advantage of the many camping grounds an hiking trails scattered about. These four days will afford you time to visit each of the communities on the island and all the museums. Also you will have ample time to visit some local crafts shops which deal with the bent wood furniture techniques, which is well known amongst North American tribes.

To get to the archipelago is a simple matter in itself. Just book a flight out of Toronto to the islands. The overall flight time takes about two hours. For those who want a more adventurous and scenic route can book a ferry or a boat ride to the islands.
