Panama City Dolphin Tours For Your Family

By Eric Edwards

Whether you live far from the ocean or even nearby, the chance to go to the beach is one of life's great pleasures. There is nothing quite like squishing your toes between the sand and enjoy the salty water on your skin. Sometimes you might long to do something more, though. Panama City dolphin tours allow you to not only explore more of the ocean, but also to interact with one of the most intelligent mammals on earth.

For a few companies, the experience is at or near the shore, where they may have some dolphins penned in and you can interact with them. In most cases, the tour will start with a boat ride, though. You get to relax and let a captain handle the waves, and then arrive at the dolphin destination. You will hop right in and, under the guidance of the experienced tour operators, begin petting and playing with the dolphins.

Each boat can accommodate several people, so you and your family may join other guests on the same vessel. However, if you wish to get a private tour, that can be arranged as well. Of course, the private ones will cost more, but you get more interaction time with the dolphins and more space to move around on the boat en route.

If you are with your family or a large group of people, most companies can accommodate you. Some boats can take 20 or more people out at one time. In fact, if you have a large family or group, you might want to ask about a discount. If you book all the tickets at once, they may be able to cut you a discount for larger groups.

These tours are fantastic for families where there is a large age gap between children. Often, kids with big age gaps do not like the same things and rarely agree on activities. But the allure of dolphins in the ocean is tempting for just about everyone.

All tour companies only hire experienced people who are knowledgeable about boats and how to stay safe on them. They provide life jackets and will probably insist that younger kids always wear one. You will likely get a crash course in safety, usually during or before the boat ride so when you arrive, you can have fun without any danger.

Usually all you need is a swim suit, towel and suntan lotion. Some companies provide water or other refreshments while on board, while others may not. Ask when you book so you know whether or not to take a bottle of water with you.

The best thing you can do is to call or go online and book your spots as soon as you get the idea. If you are going to be in the area in the summer months, you will be competing with other travelers who may have also booked early. Spring break is also a popular time, so book ahead to guarantee your seats, allowing you to have a fantastic experience your kids will not soon forget.
