Attractions and Things to Do in San Diego

San Diego boasts enough great attractions to keep visitors occupied for a few fun-filled weeks. With great weather and gorgeous architecture this is one town where tedium isn't a choice.

San Diego Zoo

Maybe the most widely known among attractions in San Diego, the San Diego Zoo should be at the top of every traveler's list. Home to thousands of animals, visitors should set aside a whole day in the zoo. The family of giant pandas can't be missed and unique exhibits like the Children's Zoo keep each and every family member engaged.

SeaWorld San Diego

Visit the world under the sea at one of the fave hot spots in San Diego. Go nose-to-nose with whales, seals and sea lions and explore Arctic regions where polar bears ramble. Take a bit of time to catch a breathtaking show featuring some of the most dazzling animals in creation. Turtle Reef is a serious attraction here, giving folk a rare glance into the life of the slippery sea turtle.

Balboa Park

People searching for things to do in San Diego definitely need to put this park on their list. Lying just outside of downtown San Diego this 1,200 acre park is a major attraction that no lesser than 85 cultural affiliations call home. Gardens, museums and theaters make this a park that might take days to totally explore.

The San Diego Natural History Museum

Attractions in San Diego can't get any better than this for those that love history. In reality this museum tells the history of the San Diego area so well that even people who don't normally like museums will find themselves having a great time. Step back in time to the ancient world to discover animals, people and cultures from all around the world. This impressively diverse collection is well worth a visit.

San Diego Theaters

Hot spots in San Diego must include the local theater scene. Some of the best are ran by the San Diego Theaters non-profit corporation. The co. manages the San Diego Civic Theater as well as the Balboa Theater in the historical and hip Gaslamp Quarter. Both theaters offer first class productions all the time. Many are produced by local music, theater and dance groups. These theaters often host touring productions of Broadway plays and musicals, so it really pays to discover what's showing before arriving in the town in order to get the finest seats.

Maritime Museum of San Diego

San Diego has a long and rich history connected with the ocean. It's been a port for hundreds of years, so it is normal that San Diego should boast a first-rate maritime museum. Even the most keen landlubber can not help but be impressed with the museum's fascinating collection of ocean vessels and various maritime objects.

The Gaslamp Quarter

Anybody searching for things to do in San Diego will certainly find them in the Gaslamp. This downtown location is home to more than forty bars, trattorias of all cuisines and shops. Downtown San Diego is a perfect place to spend an afternoon or an evening.
