Why Is Bow Hunting Trendy?

By George Dodson

Among the most peculiar people are hunters. They don't mind getting up at the crack of dawn and sitting out the woods somewhere, hoping that that deer or other game happens to come along within the range of whatever their hunting with. Usually, these people sleep or camp in the woods just to keep track of their prey. You'll find them in the local sporting goods store looking over the latest gun or other apparatus for hunting. Most the time it's a rifle. If not, they're onto bows. Why is hunting with a bow so popular?

When you hunting with a rifle, the range is 100 yards or better. Often times you have a scope which means at that range, if done properly, you're going to hit what you shoot at. On the other hand, the use of a bow will also have other requirements and specifications.

With the bow you're firing arrows one at a time. These arrows have special tips designed just for hunting. Utilizing bows for hunting will require you to have great expertise and skill on the use of such weapon. Of course, you can't always fire at a bigger distance using a bow. Like any other ballistic object, they are subject to gravity. A bow will likely fire an arrow with a varying velocity as well as a maximum covered distance. It is more likely that if you're trying to shoot an arrow at a long distance then it has greater tendency of dropping. For this reason, hunting with a bow takes more skill and adventure.

The use of bow for hunting is regarded by many hunters as a challenge. Using bow in hunting will need the hunter to cover a short distance from their prey or target. With this, the target will have the tendency to listen to their footsteps as they close the gap. Hunting with a bow will provide a great deal of challenge since the animal can hear and smell the hunter as they approach. It will always be necessary to get as close to the prey as possible if you choose to hunt using a bow. You will be required to move often towards your target if you choose to use bow for hunting. If you're looking to hunt a deer then it will be a difficult hunt since these animals have keen senses. However, they are colorblind. If they sense danger from movement or smell, they will bolt and run for miles.

In addition to the above, bow hunting requires a greater skill. Depending on the instrument you're using, you must use it correctly to ensure accurate shots. You must be able to select the correct arrows and tips, and know the differences between the kinds of bows available. It needs skill and is good for those who want a little more adventure when hunting. It also means that you're probably going to spend more time on the hunt, as you have to move to get closer to the deer. Therefore, you need to spend hours in the wild. That includes your dress such as keeping warm in the winter, wearing gear that makes less noise, and shoes that are much quieter.

As you can see, those who hunt with a bow like the adventure, like the aspect of needing more skill in selecting the equipment and the means of getting close enough to their game for the kill. If you like adventures then bow hunting would be a better choice for you.
