The Basics Of Paragliding Colorado

By Eugenia Dickerson

If one would go to the beach on vacation, one of the best activities that he would want to try out would be paragliding colorado. Of course this is known to be quite a dangerous activity because it involves a great deal of distance from the ground. It is for this reason that safety is a definite priority when it comes to this type of activity.

Now for the sole purpose of safety, all beginners are required to first go through lessons with a certified paragliding instructor. A beginner should never ever try this out on his own because he might get injured. He has to first know the basic moves and techniques that he will be using when he is in the sky.

The first lesson that one will be having would be about the gear and the equipment. Before even attempting to glide, one must first know the equipment that he will be using so that he will be able to control the glider properly. If he knows which parts he must use when in the air, he will be able to control himself better.

After learning the parts of the glider, then the instructor will teach the beginners about the three basic moves of this activity. These three basic moves are known as the launch, the direction turn, and the slow landing. Now these three moves are the most basic ones and all the advanced ones will be stemming out from these three.

Launching is the first move to learn because it is this move that will bring beginners up into the sky. To be able to perform a proper launch, one just has to run down a downhill slope and jump when he feels like he has made enough momentum. When he has made momentum and has already gone to the air, he will feel the wind lift him up.

The next basic move would be the turn and this will enable him to change directions when he is in midair. In order to do this, all he has to do would be to use the handbrakes and lean his body to whichever side he would want to go. The handbrakes will also help him control the speed so that his turns will not be so abrupt.

People say that going into the sky is the easy part while the landing is the hard part. Creating a soft landing is one of the things that beginners would always have a hard time with because of they do not know how to properly handle the handbrakes yet. Now the trick to landing properly is pulling the handbrakes at the same time and just glide down slowly.

So if one is interested in taking up paragliding colorado, he has to get himself an instructor so that he will be able to enjoy himself while being safe at the exact same time. The instructor will be the one who will teach him these three necessary moves. Also, the instructor will be there to supervise the beginner just in case anything goes wrong.
