Travel Tips To Help Minimize Trip Frustrations

By Johnathan Black

They say that travel broadens the mind, but it's hard to expand your horizons when you're dealing with endless hassles or trying to figure out where your luggage went. Before you take that next vacation, save yourself the headache with the tips in this article. They'll help make your trip go smoothly.

When traveling out of the country, it is advisable to drink only bottled water. This is especially important in countries where the quality of their tap water may be questionable. It's better to possibly pay a bit more and be safe than risk getting sick because of contaminated tap water.

If you are planning to travel to a country in a very different time zone to yours, make sure you factor jet lag into your plans. Having a low key, relaxing first day planned will get your trip off to a good start, and avoid you having to explore when all you want to do is sleep.

Young women traveling alone may want to invest in a simple gold plated band or cubic zirconium ring. Wear the ring on your left ring finger which signals that you are married or engaged. This keeps potential suitor at bay and gives an excuse for unwanted attention in hotels, airports and buses. While it may seem a tad dishonest, it can keep you from getting hit on if you are alone in unfamiliar places.

Enrol in the loyal customer club. These clubs reward you with a free night after you've stayed a certain number of nights at their participating locations. Even if you're not planning to stay with them again, enrol anyway. Being a member often entitles you to extra benefits--anything from drinks to internet access--during your stay.

Don't judge a hotel by its name alone. Look for the year it was built or last renovated, which can be very telling. Hotels can take a beating and a newly built budget hotel, may be much nicer than a luxury brand that is showing a lot of wear and tear from not being renovated in years.

Going on a trip away from home can make you want to take a bit of home with you. To ensure that you don't take too many things, only take the toiletries that you need. Make a list of toiletries that you generally use throughout your day and can't live without. Pack the ones that are most important to you.

No matter what sort of travel plans you have, whether it's a cruise around the world or a road trip to a neighbouring state, your trip will go more smoothly if you take advantage of the advice in this article. Just remember what you've learned and you'll have a great time.
