Research Your Student Group Travel Options Well

By Chelsea Evans

With the annual student group travel tour coming up, there is much excitement in the air at the local high school. Everyone is thrilled as this year it is a trip to a theme park, a trip to a movie set and the ice extravaganza followed by a scuba diving course. After that it is the trip home on the train.

This type of tour takes a lot of fine planning as one wants to keep the costs of such a tour as low as possible so that the students can afford it. There are a lot of people concerned when plotting such a trip. Such planning is no easy job.

When arranging this, one has to take many things such as travel into consideration. In order to transport many students at one time, you have to book out entire busses and a large portion of the train. These bookings need to be made well in advance, if you are to find any success.

When making bookings for a volume of people many companies are willing to reduce their rates, especially when they hear that it is for a group of kids. The only glitch comes in that they want their fees paid in advance so as to guarantee the sale of the ticket. If you do not fill the space the company will still have received its money so they do not really mind who takes it or of its not taken at all.

The trip to the theme park will only be discounted if there are more than 20 kids entering and then they all have to be under the age of 15 years. For this they will accept payment on the day. Payment can be made in advance but there is no special price if you do this.

The tour to the movie set is a different story and there you have to book in advance. Once again you are able to get special rates if there are more than 20 people taking part in the tour. There will have to be more than 4 tour vehicles used so here you can save a bit of money.

For the ice extravaganza you are forced to make a block booking in order to get a reduced rate. This is so that the company can reserve the seats and allocate them to the group. The special rate also does not include front row seats.

Booking for the scuba diving has to be done two months in advance and paid for in full. Only children under the age of 14 will get a small discount. Such companies feel that the older kids are more responsibility and therefore do not qualify for discount. You also have to place a multi booking for more than 20 people.

For student group travel trip home on the train, all fees have to be paid in full in advance. This ensures that the train company will have a place for each student to sleep and eat. Once again you will receive a special rate if you book for more than 20 people over the age of 15.
