Useful Information On Mongolian Tours

By Lela Perkins

Most people would not choose Mongolia as a holiday destination if given a choice. It's situated somewhere between China and Russia and is dwarfed by both of these countries. However, Mongolia has plenty to offer the traveler and those that choose Mongolian tours have everything planned beforehand, so you can just turn up and let the tour company do the work.

Mongolia has a reputation for outstanding natural beauty and is steeped in history. For thousands of years the nomads have traveled across the Gobi Desert, and any tour would be incomplete without a visit to the desert as well as a camel ride.

Any tour of Mongolia should offer a variety of trips to suit each traveler. Some people want to be active when they go on vacation. For them a tour company should be able to provide horse riding across the vast landscapes, trekking across some of the mountain ranges and Kayaking. Those who wish to take things a little easier can do so by doing a little camel or horse riding.

Choosing the right tour company is an absolute must. Some will not offer you any sort of package and do not provide tour services. Those companies that can offer a tour should, ideally, provide a wide range. As an example, some of the tours that are available in Mongolia include Trans-Siberian tours and jeep tours. If the company you book your holiday with does not offer these services then you'll have to go to a specialist company.

Try and choose a tour company that is able to plan your itinerary in full. That means you should have things to do form the moment you get there to the time you have to leave. If you're not using the company you booked the holiday with then they'll need to know your arrival and departure dates. The advantage of this is that you do not need to be concerned about schedules or getting anywhere. The tour company normally makes sure all meals are paid for and that you have transport waiting to take you to the next stop on your schedule.

Travelling to Mongolia is best done by air if you do not live in China. Those living in China can take the Trans-Siberian Railway from Beijing, or take a plane and fly to Ulaanbaatar. If you live in Russia, Berlin and Seoul you can take a direct flight to Mongolia.

Any trip to Mongolia is not complete without visiting the Gobi Desert. Tours from here usually start off in Ulaanbaatar, with visits to the many small towns en-route to the Gobi Desert. Along the way you'll find out from guides all about the history of Mongolia, which includes the legacy of Genghis Khan.

Mongolian tours offer a variety that many other destinations would be envious of. You can travel through the Gobi Desert and spend a night or two with some of the nomad tribes. You can visit some of the famed national parks and camp under the stars. For those not really up to doing very much you can do a little horse riding or see the flaming cliffs located in Yolyn Am.
