NYC Parks: Washington Square Park

Washington Square Park, New York City, is found in Manhattan's Greenwich Village and is a favorite local park for residents and holiday makers, too. Events in Washington Square Park are numerous and some of the hottest include concerts, out of doors theatre, art and assorted workshops.



Free Summer Concerts

The Washington Square Music Festival 2011 begins in July and will have concerts consistently each Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm. The concerts will run from July through August. Come join us for a night of soothing classical music and jazz with musical director Lutz Rath. This year, the Washington Square Musical Festival will celebrate 53 years of free concerts and is the second oldest free classical music series in NYC. The concerts are located in front of the Holley Statue in the center of Washington Square. In the unfortunate event of rain, concerts are moved to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Churchin Greeewich Village

NYLaughs ' Laughter in the Park 2011

NyLaughs ' Laughter in the Park is a free comedy series that runs for eleven weeks, beginning August 14, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 pm. Location is at Holley Plaza. Patrons should enter via Washington Square west and walk east.

Mommy/Daddy and Me Photography Workshop

The New York Photo Safari (newyorkcityphotosafari.com) will be putting together a fun filled photograph workshop for Moms, Dads and kids, ages 8-13. This workshop will happen October 2, 2011 from 9:00-11:00 am. Find out how to work on your photography skills by photographing the surrounding environment and taking family photographs. You are sure to enjoy this special afternoon with your kid or kids. Classes are $150. (for one parent and one child) and this price incorporates a great quality 8X10 of your best photograph. You have to bring your own electronic camera and, if at all possible, it is best to bring additional cameras - one for you and one for your youngster. The Photography Workshop is at 5th Avenue and Washington Square North, Manhattan.
