Reasons Why You Should Go For Unique Window Treatments

By Andrea Davidson

Decorating your windows is one very good way to convert any room into a grand space. The decoration of windows is an art, which is known to a handful of people. Unique window treatments are all about the proper balance of elements, such as curtains, valences, shades, and many other accents that, when balanced properly, will help you dazzle your visitors.

As the old saying goes: a single picture can speak a thousand words, making your windows appear unique can express your mood as well as your lifestyle to others. Furthermore, if done correctly, your windows can be designed to say more than what a picture usually shows. For example, the use of custom drapery makes your windows appear heavier ad fuller when fully lined.

The use of silk panels and valances with a touch of blue offers a prettier look. Block prints on curtains are in demand now because they allow light to flow into rooms without losing privacy, making a bold statement as well. For master bedrooms, hanging curtains in four separate panels will add brightness to the room by allowing adequate sunlight to come indoors.

While such store-bought drapery is also able to prevent excess sunlight from entering your rooms and prevents fading to a certain extent, they do very little to add to the fullness of the window. The difference between the two is in the lining. Custom made draperies are usually made using a much thicker poly-cotton fabric for their lining, which blocks sunlight as much as possible and fades very little.

If you have your fitted your windows to give out a French appearance, you may have to extend the curtain rod a bit beyond the usual length used in other windows. Adding wooden shutters painted in white will offer more privacy while limiting excess light flowing into the room. Adding privacy with elegance is further possible by using leafy patterned curtains with rustic cabin windows too.

There are many DIY techniques that can be used to decorate windows using things such as curtains, sheets, paper, linens, and pennants & neckties. Curtains are one of the most frequently items used for window treatment. Regarded as one of the best ways of covering windows, curtains are used to cover windows completely or partially, adding an extra touch of elegance to the room as well.

There are many types of blinds including roller shades, cellular, metal, vertical, textured blinds, and darkening sheers. Roller blinds come as micro and double rollers, screens and rollers made up of plain and natural material, and translucent jacquard fabric. Ultimately, the type of blind to use will be up to you; according to your requirement and current interior design.

Other than the above mentioned, you will find that there are many other reasons for choosing unique window treatments over standard methods of treating windows; the foremost simply being value. Custom treated windows pay for themselves as they provide elegance and grace to you home throughout the years which they serve your needs. The drapery used for custom treatments also lasts longer than store-bought material, saving your money in the process.
